Read this before using charcoal.
Charcoal is a burning product. Used incorrectly it can cause serious injury, fire or death. This information applies to all charcoal products, including ReadyCoal.
Warning: burning charcoal produces carbon monoxide
Carbon monoxide can be fatal. Use only in well-ventilated areas. Never burn charcoal indoors without adequate ventilation.
Carbon monoxide
- Burning charcoal produces carbon monoxide, an odourless and colourless gas that can be fatal.
- Use only in well-ventilated areas.
- Never burn charcoal indoors without adequate ventilation.
- Never use charcoal for heating or cooking indoors.
- Leave the area immediately and seek fresh air if you feel dizzy, nauseated, confused or develop a headache.
Fire safety
- Keep burning charcoal away from flammable materials, fabrics and liquids.
- Never leave burning charcoal unattended.
- Use only non-combustible, heat-resistant surfaces and trays.
- Keep a means of extinguishing fire nearby.
Handling
- Handle hot charcoal with tongs only—never with hands.
- Charcoal remains extremely hot long after it stops glowing.
- Do not touch, move or dispose of charcoal until it is fully extinguished and cool.
Storage
- Store in a dry place away from heat sources, open flame and direct sunlight.
- Reseal packaging after opening.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Disposal
- Extinguish charcoal completely before disposal.
- Dispose of cooled charcoal in a non-combustible container.
- Never place hot or warm charcoal in household waste bins.
Restrictions
- This product is intended for adult use only.
- Not for use by minors.
- Follow all applicable local laws and venue rules.
Emergency
If someone is unwell, act immediately.
Move the person to fresh air and contact your local emergency services or poison control centre. Do not wait for symptoms to pass on their own.
